Pleasure

Pleasure is an act of resilience.

Not just the sexy kind (although that too), but the kind you practice in every aspect of life.

Growing up in religion and purity culture, I had no idea what pleasure meant, inside or outside of a bedroom. Now, I know that pleasure can span from a decadent touch, to a perfectly ripened strawberry, to an act of resistance against the structures that want to keep us in our mundane, unawakened, work to live, “add to cart” existence.

I experience pleasure everywhere, every day. In the light in my window. My happiness for a friend or a lover’s happiness. In my body, on my own and with others. In nature, flavors, and flowers. For my own healing and awakening, as well as to be an active and purposeful part of community.
